Chanting the DOP Way at the Resurrection Parish, BF Paranaque was a truly enriching and meaningful experience that deepened our understanding of both the liturgical and technical aspects of Singing in the Mass. The formation covered the liturgical guidelines on the Responsorial Psalm and proper chanting in the Mass, helping us appreciate the importance of singing not merely as Proclaimers of the Word but as ministers who lead the faithful in prayer. We also learned essential vocal techniques such as breathing and phrasing, proper enunciation and diction, and tone quality, all of which contribute to a more reverent and effective proclamation of the sacred texts. The practicum sessions were especially valuable, allowing us to apply our learnings through the chanting of proclamations, sequences, and intercessions, while receiving guidance that strengthened our confidence and commitment to serve God and His people through sacred chant.

EQUIPPED TO LEAD, INSPIRED TO WORSHIP!
The Psalmists of the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help gathered for the Psalmist Workshop Series: Chant 101, a technical formation program designed to deepen their understanding and practice of liturgical psalmody. The workshop provided essential training on proper singing at the ambo, the guidelines for proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm, and the fundamentals of basic chanting.
Participants also learned techniques for fostering effective participative singing, helping the assembly respond prayerfully and actively during the liturgy. Through instruction, demonstration, and practice, the workshop aimed to strengthen the ministry of the psalmists, enabling them to proclaim God’s Word with greater confidence, reverence, and musical excellence in service to the Church.
The Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish in BF Parañaque conducted a whole-day Formation Program for Liturgical Music Ministers, bringing together representatives from 13 choir groups for a Spiritual and Liturgical Conference. The day began with a spiritual inspiration from the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Elmer Ilao, who reflected on the character and vocation of being a servant, reminding participants that liturgical music ministry is rooted in humble service to God and the faithful. Throughout the conference, participants received both spiritual and theological formation as well as technical training on sacred music and its proper role in liturgical celebrations.
The keynote speaker, Rev. Fr. Nilo Mangussad, a distinguished liturgist from the Archdiocese of Manila, delivered an enriching presentation on the theology of sacred music. Complementing this theological foundation, Bro. Benjie De Guzman, Lay Head of the Diocesan Ministry of Liturgical Music of the Diocese of Parañaque, provided practical instruction on the selection and appropriate use of music for the Holy Mass.
Congratulations to the representatives of the 13 choir groups who successfully completed both the morning and afternoon conference sessions. May this formation further strengthen their commitment to serving the Church through the ministry of sacred music and the worthy celebration of the Sacred Liturgy.
This meaningful formation program was made possible through the dedication and collaborative efforts of the parish's lay leaders, together with the guidance and support of their Parish Priest, and especially through the leadership of the Parish Ministry of Liturgical Music Head, Lily Pañares Cipriaso.
